Winter Garden



My winter garden still has some producing plants from the summer garden Grettle Eggplant, Bell Pepers and Jalapeno's , basil, tyme, oregano and parsley. The winter garden is Cauliflower, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots and Pumpkins. (trying to keep buttonweed out of the garden).

My Olive Tree

About a month ago I was at the Slidell Market on a sunny Saturday morning and found an Olive Tree. The lady that was selling them has a plant and gift shop in old town on the corner of Bouscaren and 1st. Street, The Passionate Platter. She was asking $15.00 for this skinny little branch of a tree and I reluctantly paid her for it. She said it would do well for a several years in a large pot. So I took it home and put this little branch in a small pot I had lying around and in the last month it's trippled in size. This morning I re-planted it in a nice large planter something that will contain it for several years. Hopefully in probably about a year some Olives will begin to grow at the Miller house.

Maybe this is what my tree will look like someday!



Olives are getting popular, in Europe they are sold as snacks like the dill pickles are sold as snacks here.Olives on the tree:
